How to remove people from photos (photobombers and bystanders)

Short answer: To remove a person from a photo with Erasekit, upload the image, brush red over that person (and their shadow if it stands out), then click Remove. Step-by-step for people

  1. Upload a clear JPG, PNG, or WebP where the person is separable from the background.
  2. Brush carefully around hair, hands, bags, and feet. Include a visible shadow if it would look wrong left behind.
  3. Prefer a brush size that covers limbs without painting large unrelated walls or sky.
  4. Click Remove and wait for the inpaint (often about 1–2 minutes).
  5. Download after checking edges, repeating patterns, and any leftover fragments.

Tips for cleaner results

  • Distinct clothing or pose against a simple background usually masks more easily than a crowd overlap.
  • If two people overlap, mask only the one you want gone; leave the keeper unpainted.
  • Large missing regions (someone filling half the frame) are harder to reconstruct — expect more artifacts.
  • Very large files are downscaled client-side (max edge 2048) before upload.
